A letter to Arshiya and Rohin…
Today is a special day for our family as we gather to celebrate the wedding of our oldest son, Rohin, and his beautiful bride, Arshiya. Together, Rohin and Arshiya compliment each other beautifully. The love, patience, and respect for one another shine through in everything they do.
Arshiya, always incredibly kind, incredibly thoughtful, very generous with her time, and always made sure that everyone else was okay. Rohin, I want to thank you, not for completing her because she didn't need completing, but for loving her as much as we do. For giving her the space and the confidence to be herself.
Rohin, you found a loving, grounded, and stylish wife to spend the rest of your life with. Arshiya, you found a kind, funny, light-hearted man who quite literally would not hurt a fly. I wish you two many years of happiness, adventure, and love together.
Over the years, as my shoe size outgrew his, so did my appreciation for him. Because while Rohin is family, he's also somebody I consider my best friend. You've always looked out for me, and I'm truly grateful to have you in my life.
He's been there for me in every way that matters most, judgment free, always in my corner, always forging the path for me, and always the one that I can actually count on. Now he has someone by his side who somehow matches his energy and brings out the absolute best in him. You've made him a better man, Arshiya, we love you, and I couldn't be happier to call you my sister.
He's always been loving, kind, and the kind of person you could rely on no matter what. Rohin has always been like ocean water, calm, steady, and always just going with the flow. He simply lives life. It's something I admire more than he probably knows. I am truly grateful to have him as a big brother. Knowing I can go to him for anything, and knowing that he'll always be there. And it's just that kind of bond that's just for life.
Arshiya, you've been my built-in confidant from 1996. You've always been my favorite partner in crime. I was the happiest person at this wedding, but also I can't help but be a little sad because I'm not just watching my sister get married, I'm giving away my best friend to the love of her life. Rohin, you are the perfect balance for my sister, the loveliest human, and such a solid brother for me. You ground Arshiya even without dimming her light. Nothing makes me happier than seeing how deeply you love my sister.
Arshiya, I take your hand into mine for fortune and happiness to come to both of us as husband and wife until the days of old age. God creates and sustains this world, and he dispenses justice and showers fortune. I will consider it my duty to care for her needs and protect her.
Rohin, before God and humankind, I accept you as my husband and pledge fidelity and love you for all time. May the Lord of the universe keep this relationship till our last breath.
They are saying that we will stay on our path. We will not deviate from that path of truth. So that's, at a symbolic level, why they go around. He's saying that I am Vishnu. I represent the strength, and you represent sweetness, Lakshmi, mild sweetness. I'm the harmony of music. You're the words of wisdom. I represent heaven, and your earth herself personified. May we come together, and may we be blessed for a lifespan together. It is Rohin who is saying to Arshiya, take these steps with me as we go forward in marriage life. I'm pleased to present to you as husband and wife, Rohin and Arshiya.
Today is such a beautiful and emotional day for me. Seeing my son step into this next chapter of his life with the love of his life by his side. As a mother, it's hard to put into words just how proud I am of the man my son has become. He's humble, quiet, kind-hearted, and truly down to earth. Now he's marrying a wonderful, beautiful girl. She's the perfect match for him. We feel so blessed to welcome her into our family.
It's our absolute honour to introduce the newlyweds, Rohin and Arshiya, along with their incredible families. Make some noise!!!
As I stand here, I find myself taking a journey through the time, through the little memories and precious moments that have brought us to this day. From her earliest years, she has been remarkably understanding, grounded, and compassionate, far beyond her age.
We wish you all the best. May you both enjoy prosperous, loving, and long life.
Arshiya is one of the most selfless people we've ever met. She somehow always manages to put others first, even if it means putting herself second. She's the kind of person who will quietly step back and let someone else shine, to make sure they feel valued and celebrated. No matter what life throws at you, Arshiya always shows up. Her unwavering loyalty and kindness makes her the kind of friend everyone wishes they had.
Enjoy every moment tonight, and dance your asses off, and, you know, run this place dry.
I just wanted to mention the first time that we met was at a bar in Toronto, and I thought she was beautiful, and I remember thinking that one out of two things are going to happen: Either I'm going to spend many years dating this girl, or I'm going to end up marrying her. So that was one of two things. And now, almost 5 years later, I'm standing here and marrying the love of my life.
