A letter to Lava and Rohan…

Welcome all of you to the first celebration of Rohan and Lava. We are thrilled to welcome family and dear friends from all over the globe.

Thank you all for coming. I hope you have as much fun this weekend as I think you will. We're about to make new friends as we celebrate the love of Lava and Rohan.

Rohan and Lava have been together for nearly 10 years, and in that time, Lava has become such an important part of our lives. From the very beginning, she has felt like family. She has brought warmth, grace, and such a natural sense of belonging into our home. We embrace her not as a daughter-in-law but as a daughter. Truly, she fits so seamlessly into our lives that sometimes I forget there was ever a time she wasn't a part of it. Lava, thank you for the love you show Rohan, for your strength, your kindness, and for becoming his partner in every sense. You are a blessing in our life.

Rohan, as your mother, I have had the joy of watching you grow, stumble, learn, and become the man you are today. Seeing you with Lava, I know you have found someone who not only loves you deeply but also brings out the best in you. That gives me so much peace and pride.

Rohan and Lava, I hope you will leave this weekend not just as husband and wife but knowing you carry with you the love of two families and everyone who is here to celebrate with you. Congratulations to Lava and Rohan. May the love you feel today carry you through.

Fiercely focused, incredibly fun, and diversely talented, spending time with Lava is always a delight. I witness Lava open-minded to everybody and everything. I've known Rohan for a long time, and through all these years, the trips, the late nights, and the chaos, Rohan has always been steady and dependable, the person you can count on no matter the circumstances. What's changed, however, is seeing that matched with the kind of commitment and partnership that makes a marriage work. I've had the chance to meet Lava, and every time, I've been struck by her kindness, her warmth, and how clearly she brings the best out in Rohan.

Rohan has always exuded this quiet confidence and calm assurance in the future. It's no wonder that over the last 9 years, Rohan and Lava's relationship has flourished, prevailing over all the different things that life threw at them, whether it was bouts of long distance or moving to a different country together. I know that their practical and level-headed approach to life's challenges will serve them well for decades to come.

Rohan and Lava, we've known you for 10 years as a duo now. We've seen you go through the ups and downs of life, your relationship, law school, everything together, and you've come out stronger in the end, and we're so excited to be here today and celebrate the both of you. I'm super excited to see you start this new chapter, and you have the most beautiful bride-to-be and best friend. And I know that she's going to support you through everything, just as you have supported her. And the biggest, warmest hug to the both of you. May this be the beginning of the best adventure ever, and know that we both love you so, so much.

From the moment that they met at Queens, it was clear that she matched them perfectly. She's just as logical, calm, and thoughtful as Rohan. Together, I think they're this power couple who's as loving as they are logical.

What makes today auspicious is because today, two families are becoming one. People are becoming one, but most importantly, souls are becoming one. There are very few moments in our life which are truly memorable, and today, for the bride and groom, this is one of those memorable moments, and all of us have gathered to even make it more special.

Now, at this time, ladies and gentlemen, bride and groom will exchange garlands, signifying that they've chosen each other to be partners for life. Now, a big thread will be applied and placed around the necks of the bride and groom, signifying the commitment towards union, at the same time signifying that they're becoming one. When your hands hold each other for the very first time, it is at that moment that Bhagwan Shiv Mai come down to bless both of you. Two very specific blessings: unflinching devotion towards each other, and second is of biswas, which is unflinching faith. And these two blessings are your initial founding stone of this new relationship you're about to begin.

Ladies and gentlemen, there's a tradition. It is said the first to sit will become the leader, the second to be a follower. Let's all count to three: 1, 2, 3.
