A letter to Cayley and Justin…
Justin, whether we're traveling around the world, perched on a bar stool at our favourite dive bar, or cuddled up on the couch at home, you've made falling in love the most fun adventure, and I feel so lucky you've chosen me as your partner and teammate to do it all with. You absolutely radiate positivity and have the most contagious energy. You put a smile on my face and make me laugh every single day. And you inspire me to see the world through your lens of eternal optimism. You have provided me with a sense of security that I never knew could exist between two people.
Something beautiful, sparkly, and pretty, just like the bride. This will look perfect on your arm for our special day. Love, Justin.
Cayley, watching you grow from my little girl to the beautiful bride you are today has been such a joy. Not only are you my daughter, but you are one of my closest friends. From the moment she told us about Justin, we knew he was the one. Justin, you have been very supportive of Cayley. You encouraged her, and you've made her so happy, and we are so grateful for that. We are so thankful for the laughter and the happiness you have brought to Cayley, and you've made all her dreams come true, and we love you for that.
Some words on Miles and Nigel's behalf: Dad and Cayley, congratulations on getting married today. We are very happy for you. Dad, you are always so nice to everyone, and you always practice soccer with me, which makes me very happy. Cayley, you are always so enthusiastic to do things with us, and that makes us feel good. You always have good ideas for new things for us to try. When we try new things together, it doesn't matter if we're good at it, it just matters that we're doing them together.
Congratulations, Dad and Cayley, on your marriage today. I couldn't be happier for you. Dad, you're always so supportive and make me feel I can do anything I put my mind to. Cayley, you're always ecstatic to do stuff with us, which I love. Dad and Cayley, as a couple, you're so energetic and motivational. On your wedding day, I look forward to all the times we'll share together as a family and the memories we'll create.
When we were young kids, Cayley took her role as annoying younger sister very seriously. For whatever reason, living in different countries seemed to bring us closer together. And when Cayley eventually decided to join me at Clarkson, I was thrilled. We've bungee jumped in Whistler, we've accidentally joined a protest in Paris, and we've celebrated my mom's birthday in Toronto. I've been so lucky to share some of life's biggest moments with Cayley, and I couldn't be happier to stand by her again today.
As a brother, all you want is to see your sister happy. And I've never seen Cayley happier than she is with Justin. Upon reflection, Carly and I understand why they work so well together. Cayley found in Justin what she had in us growing up: someone to challenge and push her, someone to laugh and have fun with, but ultimately someone too scared to say no to her as well. We'd like to close with a toast to Cayley. Cayley, we hope you enjoy growing old with Justin as much as we enjoy growing up with you.
We're gathered here today to witness a celebration of the union of Justin Boye and Cayley Mercer—two incredible humans who have created a profound connection with one another.
To the love of my life, you are my best friend. I've never laughed as much with anybody on earth as I do with you. I promise to be loving, supportive, loyal, kind, and patient forever and always. I can't imagine a day in my life without you. I will do anything and everything, now and forever, to create true happiness in your life.
I give you this ring as a symbol of my commitment, as my promise to laugh with you in joy, to grieve with you in sorrow, to be faithful to you alone as long as we both shall live.
You are the most amazing man I have ever met. You have filled me with undeniable happiness, softened my heart, and calmed my soul. I'm constantly learning from you, and I'm amazed at the motivation you find every day to go out and make your dreams and the dreams of our family a reality.
I give you this ring as a symbol of my commitment, as my promise to laugh with you in joy, to grieve with you in sorrow, to grow with you in love, to be faithful to you alone as long as we both shall live.
I will still choose this life with you over any alternative, because if everything else that I want in life doesn't come to fruition, but I'm staring at you as we head towards the finish line, I'll be happy.
I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.
Continue your applause as I introduce to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Boye!
As we get older, there's one thing that we all seek that can't be bought, and that's time. And with that time, what we all want is peace. I've shared countless peaceful moments with Justin: walking home from school, grabbing a slice from Marino's, playing basketball at High View, hanging out in Colin's basement, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with Seikka, Diane, and that mouthwatering Pavlova. Justin is the type of man you want your sons to look up to. He's the top of the measuring stick for being a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a colleague, a coach, and now a husband. And we just want you to know you've done more for us than you'll ever know. Thank you very much.
Most of you here know Justin for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and his willingness to always be available. His main purpose in life has always been to find ways to bring happiness to others. Well, now it is his turn to enjoy the happiness that Cayley has brought into his life. I love you both, and I wish you much happiness as you continue on this journey.
Life is great when the goals are scoring, the baskets are swishing, the sun is shining at the cottage, the markets are higher, the champagne is flowing, and everyone is happy and healthy. But there'll also be challenging times. If you have a partner that has your back, you are golden. I truly suspect Justin and Cayley have this figured out just fine. Let's raise a glass to Justin and Cayley. Cheers!
The two of you are so big. You attack life, and you are overflowing with kindness, and I really see a match in the two of you in that. And I want you to live a life of meeting one another where you're at every day. Justin and Cayley, I'm just thrilled for you. Congratulations!
Justin, you deserve every happiness, and you deserve all of the care that you bring to all of your relationships in your life. And Cayley, thank you for bringing that to Justin. We love you so much!
