A letter to Justina and Matthew…
To my wife on the occasion of our wedding, July 20th, 2025
My dearest Matthew, my bridegroom, the love of my life, my forever love and partner to the Kingdom of God. Your kindness, my dearest, was one of the first things that drew me to you and made me fall in love with you.
Dear Justina, I love you, and I prefer you to life itself. Your heart has become my heart. You are forgiving and merciful. Your strength is quiet, steady, and unshaken. You are thoughtful, humble, and full of love.
As her sister, being born 17 months apart, I grew up always having a best friend at my side. We could talk for hours, and one of the things Justina loved to talk about was the love that she'd find — a love-comes-softly type of love, a love of friendship.
Matthew, it has been my deepest joy as your sister to watch you grow into the man that you are today. When I look at you, it's like I can see all the years and versions of you flash by into the man you have become. Where there is an abundance of knowledge, there has become wisdom and humility. And Justina, his love for you will be the deepest, fiercest, and most long-suffering that you will know. You are one in a million, and I'm so happy that, out of the millions, you were able to find your other half.
Matt, just know that we respect you. We appreciate your integrity, your love for God, your character, your knowledge, and your love for building community.
You are truly a stand-up leader, an encouraging friend, and a true brother who is always with you to the end.
Together, Justina and Matt are proof that the love of Justina's dreams is not only found in romantic books — that a deep love founded on friendship exists and can blossom into something beautiful, which we get to witness today.
The big day has finally come — the day that both of you waited and waited for so long. A day of joy. A day of great blessing. We're here rejoicing that you are both already living your lives committed to our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
O eternal God, who has brought into unity those who were sundered and hast ordained for them an indissoluble bond of love; who did bless Isaac and Rebecca and did make them heirs of Thy promise: bless also these Thy servants, Matthew and Justina, guiding them unto every good work. For unto Thee we ascribe glory. With Thine invisible protection, bless this marriage, and make, and grant to these Thy servants, Matthew and Justina, a peaceful life, length of days, chastity, mutual love in the bond of peace, long-lived offspring, gratitude from their children, a crown of glory that does not fade away.
Graciously grant that they may see their children's children. Fill their houses with wheat, wine, oil, and every good thing, so that they may give in turn to those in need.
And the presenters, the priests, led you as His sheep on your first journey as married sheep around this altar, and you went three times around the Gospel. A circle is eternal — an eternal glorification of the Trinity, with God leading you and Jesus at the center of it all.
Join this Thy servant Matthew and this Thy handmaid Justina, for by Thee is the husband joined to the wife.
I would like for the first time to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Chase.
Matthew, you may kiss the bride.
Now, with hearts full of love, welcome for the first time husband and wife: Dr. and Mrs. Chase.
Matthew was a special young boy growing up. We're happy that, in Justina, you found a young lady who appreciates your uniqueness, special abilities, talents, and loves you just as you are.
Justina, we welcome you to our family. Go with God, and He will go with you. We love you both very much.
What shall the father of the bride say on such an auspicious day? I can say things that many people say — and it's true: we're not losing a daughter; we're gaining a son. But I want something more. So the two words that I want to leave ringing in your ears are: humble, selfless.
I love you, Justina. I will strive to show you that love every day of my life — in my words and in my actions — and walk beside you joyfully as we take the narrow road to the Kingdom of Heaven. I pray that whatever we face from this day forward, we face it together, with God leading us.
God gave us each other, and may we, under His protection, give back to Him our love a hundredfold. I love you with all my heart.
